                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of July 19, 1957 (P.L.1017, No.451), entitled
     2     "An act prohibiting advisors, consultants, officers and
     3     employes of the Commonwealth, the Pennsylvania Turnpike
     4     Commission and State authorities, from having adverse
     5     interests in certain contracts; prohibiting employes thereof
     6     from representing other persons in certain circumstances; and
     7     prescribing penalties," further defining the term "State
     8     agency" to include the Pennsylvania Higher Education
     9     Assistance Agency.

    10     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    11  hereby enacts as follows:
    12     Section 1.  Section 2(8) of the act of July 19, 1957
    13  (P.L.1017, No.451), known as the State Adverse Interest Act,
    14  amended December 9, 1982 (P.L.1044, No.245), is amended to read:
    15     Section 2.  The following terms shall have the following
    16  meanings, when used in this act:

    18     (8)  "State Agency."  A department, board, commission or
    19  other part of the executive branch of the government of the
    20  Commonwealth or the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, the
    21  Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency, the General

     1  State Authority or other State authority, created by a statute
     2  which declares in substance that such authority performs or has
     3  for its purpose the performance of an essential governmental
     4  function and that its bonds shall not pledge the faith or credit
     5  or be obligations of the Commonwealth.

     7     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
