AN ACT
1 Amending the act of June 24, 1931 (P.L.1206, No.331), entitled
2 "An act concerning townships of the first class; amending,
3 revising, consolidating, and changing the law relating
4 thereto," providing for limited annual appropriations for
5 support of drug and alcohol abuse programs.
6 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
7 hereby enacts as follows:
8 Section 1. Section 1502 of the act of June 24, 1931
9 (P.L.1206, No.331), known as The First Class Township Code,
10 reenacted and amended May 27, 1949 (P.L.1955, No.569), is
11 amended by adding a clause to read:
12 Section 1502. The corporate power of a township of the first
13 class shall be vested in the board of township commissioners.
14 The board shall have power--

16 LXXV. Appropriation for Support of Drug and Alcohol Abuse
17 Programs. To appropriate annually, out of the general funds to
18 the township, a sum not to exceed five thousand dollars ($5000)
1 to be divided in such amounts as the commissioners deem proper
2 to be used for education and the development of programs within
3 the community dealing with drug and alcohol abuse. Such funds
4 may be contributed to existing programs AVAILABLE TO THE <--
5 TOWNSHIP'S RESIDENTS in adjacent communities or in the county
6 where the township is situate at the discretion of the township
7 commissioners.
8 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
