                                     AN ACT

     1  Extending benefits to police chiefs or heads of police
     2     departments of political subdivisions of the Commonwealth who
     3     have been removed from bargaining units by the Pennsylvania
     4     Labor Relations Board.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Except in cities of first and second class, the
     8  chief, superintendent or commissioner of police and other
     9  ranking officers in a political subdivision of the Commonwealth
    10  who have been removed from bargaining units under the act of
    11  June 24, 1968 (P.L.237, No.111), referred to as the Policemen
    12  and Firemen Collective Bargaining Act, by rulings of the
    13  Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board shall receive the same
    14  increase including fringe benefits as received by the highest
    15  ranking police officer participating in the bargaining unit.
    16     Section 2.  If the salary of the police chief or the head of
    17  the police department is lower than the closest subordinate
    18  police officer, the salary of the police chief or head of the


     1  police department shall be adjusted to a salary above that of
     2  the closest subordinate officer, but longevity pay shall not be
     3  computed in base salary.
     4     Section 3.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
