           WIGGINS, WILLIAMS, BARBER, FATTAH, LEVIN, OLIVER, HARPER,
           CARN, LINTON, RICHARDSON, COHEN AND EVANS, FEBRUARY 7, 1983

        AS REPORTED FROM COMMITTEE ON URBAN AFFAIRS, HOUSE OF
           REPRESENTATIVES, AS AMENDED, JUNE 28, 1983

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 1, 1956 (1955 P.L.1959, No.657),
     2     entitled, as amended, "An act fixing the salaries and
     3     compensation of the Chief Justice and judges of the Supreme
     4     Court, the President Judge and judges of the Superior Court,
     5     the judges of the courts of common pleas, the judges of the
     6     orphans' courts, the judges of the County Court of
     7     Philadelphia and the judges of the County Court and Juvenile
     8     Court of Allegheny County, certain associate judges not
     9     learned in the law, certain state officers, and the salary
    10     and expenses of the members of the General Assembly, and
    11     repealing certain inconsistent acts," further providing for
    12     the annual salary of the President Judge of the Philadelphia
    13     Traffic Court AND DISTRICT JUSTICES; AND MAKING A REPEAL.      <--

    14     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    15  hereby enacts as follows:
    16     Section 1.  Section 4.2 of the act of June 1, 1956 (1955
    17  P.L.1959, No.657), referred to as the Public Official
    18  Compensation Law, amended October 25, 1979 (P.L.235, No.75), is
    19  amended to read:
    20     Section 4.2.  (a)  The annual salary of the President Judge
    21  of the Philadelphia Traffic Court shall be [twenty-six thousand
    22  dollars ($26,000)] forty-two thousand five hundred dollars

     1  ($42,500). The annual salary of associate judges of the
     2  Philadelphia Traffic Court shall be [twenty-five thousand
     3  dollars ($25,000)] thirty-seven thousand five hundred dollars
     4  ($37,500).
     5     (b)  As of July 1, 1984, the annual salary of the President
     6  Judge of the Philadelphia Traffic Court shall be forty-five
     7  thousand dollars ($45,000) and the annual salary of the
     8  associate judges of the Philadelphia Traffic Court shall be
     9  forty thousand dollars ($40,000).
    10     (C)  AS OF THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS SUBSECTION, THE ANNUAL   <--
    11  SALARY OF DISTRICT JUSTICES SHALL BE THIRTY-TWO THOUSAND FIVE
    12  HUNDRED DOLLARS ($32,500).
    13     SECTION 2.  SECTION 206(A) OF THE ACT OF JULY 15, 1976
    14  (P.L.1014, NO.204), KNOWN AS THE MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT REFORM
    15  ACT, IS REPEALED.
    16     Section 2 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1983.         <--
