In the House of Representatives, May 12, 1981 1 WHEREAS, The Department of Defense is considering the <-- 2 deactivation of Fort Indiantown Gap Military Reservation by 3 shifting 13 military and 270 civilian employees to Fort Meade, 4 Maryland and eliminating the remaining 128 military and 310 5 civilian jobs; and 6 WHEREAS, THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE IS CONSIDERING EITHER THE <-- 7 COMPLETE TERMINATION OF UNITED STATES ARMY OCCUPANCY OF FORT 8 INDIANTOWN GAP MILITARY RESERVATION BY SHIFTING 12 MILITARY AND 9 253 CIVILIAN PERSONNEL TO FORT MEADE, MARYLAND, AND ELIMINATING 10 THE REMAINING POSITIONS OF 143 MILITARY AND 568 CIVILIAN 11 PERSONNEL; OR THE REDUCTION OF THE UNITED STATES ARMY COMPLEMENT 12 BY SHIFTING ONE MILITARY AND 184 CIVILIAN PERSONNEL TO FORT 13 MEADE, AND ELIMINATING THE POSITIONS OF 36 MILITARY AND 321 14 CIVILIAN PERSONNEL; AND
1 WHEREAS, THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE IS CONSIDERING A TRANSFER 2 OF THE HELICOPTER MAINTENANCE COMPLEMENT OF 13 MILITARY AND 260 3 CIVILIAN PERSONNEL FROM THE NEW CUMBERLAND ARMY DEPOT TO THE AIR 4 NAVAL STATION AT CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS; AND 5 WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has suffered 6 undetermined economic losses from the nuclear reactor accident 7 at Three Mile Island, adjacent to the Fort Indiantown Gap 8 Military Reservation AND THE NEW CUMBERLAND ARMY DEPOT; <-- 9 therefore be it 10 RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly 11 of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania hereby memorializes the 12 Congress of the United States to take appropriate legislative 13 action to prevent the above moves planned by the Department of 14 Defense; and be it further 15 RESOLVED, That copies of the resolution be transmitted to the 16 presiding officers of the Senate and the House of 17 Representatives of the Congress of the United States and to each 18 Senator and Representative from Pennsylvania in the Congress of 19 the United States.
