AN ACT
1 Amending Title 23 (Domestic Relations) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, redefining the word "intermediary."
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. The definition of "intermediary" in section 2102
6 of Title 23, act of November 25, 1970 (P.L.707, No.230), known
7 as the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, is amended to read:
8 § 2102. Definitions.
9 The following words and phrases when used in this part shall
10 have, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise, the
11 meanings given to them in this section:

13 "Intermediary." Any [person or persons or] public or private
14 agency licensed by the Department of Public Welfare acting
15 between the parent or parents and the proposed adoptive parent
16 or parents in arranging an adoption placement or any person or
17 persons acting between the parent or parents and the proposed
1 adoptive parent or parents in arranging an adoption placement
2 when the child is the child, grandchild, stepchild, brother or
3 sister of the whole or half blood, or niece or nephew by blood,
4 marriage or adoption of the person receiving or retaining
5 custody or physical care.

7 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
