                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of July 12, 1972 (P.L.762, No.180), entitled
     2     "An act relating to intergovernmental cooperation,"
     3     regulating joint purchases and bids on such purchases.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 7.1, act of July 12, 1972 (P.L.762,
     7  No.180), entitled "An act relating to intergovernmental
     8  cooperation," added October 4, 1978 (P.L.1044, No.238), is
     9  amended to read:
    10     Section 7.1.  All joint purchases involving an expenditure of
    11  more than [$2,500] $4,000 shall be made by contract, in writing,
    12  only after notice for bids once a week for two weeks in at least
    13  one and not more than two newspapers of general circulation
    14  circulating generally in the joining municipalities. All
    15  contracts shall be let to the lowest responsible bidder. Every
    16  contract for the construction, reconstruction, alteration,
    17  repair, improvement or maintenance of public works shall comply
    18  with the provisions of the act of March 3, 1978 (P.L.6, No.3),

     1  known as the "Steel Products Procurement Act."
     2     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
