                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of May 1, 1933 (P.L.103, No.69), entitled "An
     2     act concerning townships of the second class; and amending,
     3     revising, consolidating, and changing the law relating
     4     thereto," further providing for attendance at certain
     5     conferences, institutes and schools.

     6     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  hereby enacts as follows:
     8     Section 1.  Subsection (h) of section 516, act of May 1, 1933
     9  (P.L.103, No.69), known as "The Second Class Township Code,"
    10  reenacted and amended July 10, 1947 (P.L.1481, No.567), and
    11  amended June 27, 1973 (P.L.67, No.28), is amended to read:
    12     Section 516.  Duties of Supervisors, Township
    13  Superintendents, and Roadmasters.--The township supervisors, or
    14  the supervisors employed as superintendents or roadmasters,
    15  shall--

    17     (h)  Attend [road] meetings and conventions [authorized by
    18  the provisions of this act when] if directed to do so by the
    19  board of supervisors. Any supervisor, elected or appointed

     1  officer or [qualified] township employe [may] shall, if directed
     2  by the board of supervisors, attend any conference, institute or
     3  school [conducted within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in
     4  order to discuss and resolve the various questions arising in
     5  the discharge of the duties and functions of the respective
     6  officers and employes, and to provide uniform, efficient and
     7  economical methods of administering their township duties]
     8  dealing with the duties and functions of such elected or
     9  appointed officers or employes. The expenses for attending the
    10  conferences, institutes and schools may be paid by the township
    11  and shall be limited to the registration fee, mileage [at the
    12  rate of twelve cents (12¢) per circular mile, and thirty-five
    13  dollars ($35)] going to and returning from such meeting plus all
    14  other expenses not to exceed sixty dollars ($60) per day.
