AN ACT
1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2 act relating to the public school system, including certain
3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5 laws relating thereto," further providing for certain
6 mandatory holidays for professional employes.
7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8 hereby enacts as follows:
9 Section 1. The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known
10 as the "Public School Code of 1949," is amended by adding a
11 section to read:
12 Section 1172. Additional Holidays for Professional
13 Employes.--In addition to any holidays granted to professional
14 employes pursuant to sections 1502 and 1503 or obtained through
15 collective bargaining agreements pursuant to the act of July 23,
16 1970 (P.L.563, No.195), known as the "Public Employe Relations
17 Act," professional employes shall not be required to perform
18 their duties on two days of Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, First Day
19 of Passover, Eastern Orthodox Annunciation of Virgin Mary,
1 Eastern Orthodox Good Friday and Eastern Orthodox Epiphany Day.
2 No deduction shall be made from the professional employes'
3 salaries for such additional holidays.
4 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
