AN ACT
1 Amending the act of May 7, 1923 (P.L.158, No.119), entitled "An
2 act creating a Legislative Reference Bureau; providing for
3 the election of a director by the General Assembly;
4 designating the officers and employes of such bureau,
5 defining their duties; fixing their salaries; abolishing the
6 present Legislative Reference Bureau; and making an
7 appropriation," prohibiting officers and employes from being
8 a candidate for or holding the office of member of the
9 General Assembly.
10 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
11 hereby enacts as follows:
12 Section 1. Section 8, act of May 7, 1923 (P.L.158, No.119),
13 entitled "An act creating a Legislative Reference Bureau;
14 providing for the election of a director by the General
15 Assembly; designating the officers and employes of such bureau,
16 defining their duties; fixing their salaries, abolishing the
17 present Legislative Reference Bureau; and making an
18 appropriation," is amended to read:
19 Section 8. (a) The director and his assistants shall
20 neither oppose nor urge legislation, but shall, upon request,
21 aid and assist the Members of the General Assembly, the
1 Governor, and the heads of departments, by advising as to bills 2 and resolutions, and by drafting the same into proper form, and 3 by furnishing to them the fullest information upon all matters 4 within the scope of the bureau relating to their public duties. 5 (b) No officer or employe of the bureau shall be a candidate 6 for or hold the office of member of the General Assembly. 7 (c) No officer or employe of the bureau shall reveal to any 8 person outside of the bureau the contents or nature of any 9 matter not yet published, without the consent of the person 10 bringing such matters before the bureau. 11 Section 2.
