PRINTER'S NO. 1195

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF PENNSYLVANIA

HOUSE RESOLUTION

No. 56 Session of 1979

INTRODUCED BY HALVERSON, APRIL 25, 1979

REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON FEDERAL-STATE RELATIONS,
           APRIL 25, 1979

In the House of Representatives, April 25, 1979

1 The reason for the existence and manner of use of metric
2 figures, etc. originated outside the United States for the
3 benefit of others than our citizens. None of the existing
4 generations in the United States grew up with the metric system.
5 Its institution here would benefit none of such generations. The
6 conversion to it would benefit interests outside the United
7 States to the detriment of the people of our country; therefore
     8 be it
9 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives memorialize the
10 President of the United States and the United States Congress to
11 abandon the plans to institute the use of the metric system in
12 the United States; and be it further
13 RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
14 the President of the United States, to the Secretary of State,
15 to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, to the Majority
16 Leader of the Senate, and to each Senator and Representative
17 from Pennsylvania in the Congress of the United States.
