In the House of Representatives, March 13, 1979
1 WHEREAS, The Interstate Highway System is substantially
2 complete; and
3 WHEREAS, Federal aid highway tax revenues will be in excess
4 of amounts required for new highway construction; and
5 WHEREAS, Every state including Pennsylvania faces higher
6 maintenance costs for its portion of the interstate system;
7 therefore be it
8 RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly
9 of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania memorialize the Congress of
10 the United States to amend the Federal Aid Highway Act so that
11 the maintenance of the Interstate Highway System will be funded
12 upon the basis of conditions of the Interstate Highway System
13 among the various states; and be it further
14 RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
15 the presiding officers of each House of the Congress of the
16 United States and to each Senator and Representative from
17 Pennsylvania in the Congress of the United States.
