                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 3, 1937 (P.L.1225, No.316), entitled
     2     "An act concerning game and other wild birds and wild
     3     animals; and amending, revising, consolidating, and changing
     4     the law relating thereto," prohibiting the taking of bear
     5     less than one year old.

     6     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  hereby enacts as follows:
     8     Section 1.  Section 502, act of June 3, 1937 (P.L.1225,
     9  No.316), known as "The Game Law," amended March 23, 1970
    10  (P.L.200, No.79) and December 10, 1974 (P.L.811, No.269), is
    11  amended to read:
    12     Section 502.  Bag Limits.--(a)  It is unlawful for any person
    13  to kill or attempt to kill in any one day or in any one season,
    14  or have in possession at any one time, unless otherwise provided
    15  in this act more game birds or game animals than fixed by
    16  resolution of the commission.
    17     Except as otherwise provided by regulations of the commission
    18  and the provisions of subsection (e) of section 501 of this act,
    19  every deer taken shall be a male deer having two or more points

     1  to one antler. [, and] Without exception, every bear taken shall
     2  be not less than one year old.
     3     If in any year the commission fails to establish the bag or
     4  possession limits for game birds or game animals they shall be
     5  the same as those fixed by resolution of the commission for the
     6  previous year.
     7     (b)  Any person who kills a wild turkey, bear or deer, which
     8  upon presentation to a district game protector is shown to his
     9  satisfaction to be unfit for human consumption when it was
    10  killed, shall have the right to kill another animal of the same
    11  species then in season, and the district game protector shall
    12  authorize such person, in writing, to kill a second wild turkey,
    13  bear or deer as provided above. All parts of said unfit game
    14  shall be turned over to the district game protector intact,
    15  except for the removal of the entrails which is a normal field
    16  procedure.
    17     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
