                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, relating to drivers' licenses.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5     Section 1.  Subsection (a) of sections 1510 and 1514 of Title
     6  75, act of November 25, 1970 (P.L.707, No.230), known as the
     7  Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, are amended to read:
     8  § 1510.  Issuance and content of driver's license.
     9     (a)  General rule.--The department shall, upon payment of the
    10  required fee, issue to every qualified applicant a driver's
    11  license indicating the type or general class of vehicles the
    12  licensee is authorized to drive, which license shall contain a
    13  distinguishing number identifying the licensee, the actual name,
    14  date of birth, residence address, a color photograph of the
    15  licensee, such other information as may be required by the
    16  department, and either a facsimile of the signature of the
    17  licensee or a space upon which the licensee shall write his


     1  usual signature with pen and ink. Personal medical data and
     2  other information for use in an emergency may be included as a
     3  part of the license. Information other than that required to
     4  identify the licensee, the distinguishing number and the class
     5  of license issued may be included in microdata form. No driver's
     6  license shall be valid until it has been signed by the licensee.
     7  A driver's license, with color photograph of the licensee a part
     8  of it, shall become a part of a renewal thereof upon compliance
     9  with the regulations of the department concerning its affixation
    10  to the new license.

    12  § 1514.  Expiration and renewal of drivers' licenses.
    13     (a)  General rule.--Every driver's license shall expire in
    14  the month of the licensee's birthdate at intervals of not more
    15  than [four] two years as may be determined by the department.
    16  Every license shall be renewable on or before its expiration
    17  upon application, payment of the required fee, and satisfactory
    18  completion of any examination required or authorized by this
    19  chapter.

    21     Section 2.  Section 1951 of Title 75 is amended to read:
    22  § 1951.  Driver's license and learner's permit.
    23     (a)  Driver's license.--The annual fee for a driver's license
    24  shall be $5 plus [the cost of] $5 for the photograph required in
    25  section 1510(a) (relating to issuance and content of driver's
    26  license).
    27     (b)  Learner's permit.--The fee for a learner's permit shall
    28  be $5.
    29     (c)  Identification card.--The fee for an identification card
    30  shall be $5.

     1     (d)  Replacement license or card.--The fee for a replacement
     2  driver's license or identification card shall be $5.
     3     Section 3.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
