AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, further prohibiting parking on highways for certain
3 purposes.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Section 3353(a)(1), of Title 75, act of November
7 25, 1970 (P.L.707, No.230), known as the Pennsylvania
8 Consolidated Statutes, is amended to read:
9 § 3353. Prohibitions in specified places.
10 (a) General rule.--Except when necessary to avoid conflict
11 with other traffic or to protect the safety of any person or
12 vehicle or in compliance with law or the directions of a police
13 officer or official traffic-control device, no person shall:
14 (1) Stop, stand or park a vehicle:
15 (i) On the roadway side of any vehicle stopped or
16 parked at the edge or curb of a street except that a
17 pedalcycle may be parked as provided in section
18 3509(b)(2) (relating to parking).
1 (ii) On a sidewalk except that a pedalcycle may be
2 parked as provided in section 3509(b)(2).
3 (iii) Within an intersection.
4 (iv) On a crosswalk.
5 (v) Between a safety zone and the adjacent curb
6 within 30 feet of points on the curb immediately opposite
7 the ends of a safety zone, unless a different length is
8 indicated by official traffic-control devices.
9 (vi) Alongside or opposite any street excavation or
10 obstruction when stopping, standing or parking would
11 obstruct traffic.
12 (vii) Upon any bridge or other elevated structure
13 upon a highway or within a highway tunnel.
14 (viii) On any railroad tracks.
15 (ix) In the area between roadways of a divided
16 highway, including crossovers.
17 (x) At any place where official signs prohibit
18 stopping.
19 (xi) On the side of any highway within the right-of-
20 way for the purpose of selling or offering for sale any
21 farm produce or manufactured goods. This restriction
22 shall not apply to any farm produce grown on a farm
23 adjacent to such highway.
