AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, further providing for the operation of motorcycles
3 with lighted head lamps and requiring all motorcycles to be
4 equipped with devices to automatically keep the head lamps
5 lighted while the motorcycles are in operation.
6 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
7 hereby enacts as follows:
8 Section 1. Section 3523 and the heading and section 3524 of
9 Title 75, act of November 25, 1970 (P.L.707, No.230), known as
10 the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, are amended by adding
11 subsections to read:
12 § 3523. Operating motorcycles on roadways laned for traffic.

14 (g) Lighted head lamps.--Any motorcycle operated on any
15 roadway of the Commonwealth shall, during the period of
16 operation, be equipped with a lighted head lamp.
17 § 3524. Footrests [and], handlebars and lighted head lamps.

19 (c) Head lamp lighting devices.--Any new motorcycle sold in
20 this Commonwealth shall be equipped with a device that shall
1 automatically light the head lamp of such motorcycle during the
2 period of operation.
3 Section 2. This act shall take effect January 1, 1981.
