AN ACT
1 Amending Title 66 (Public Utilities) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, further providing for the public
3 letting of contracts.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Section 513 of Title 66, act of November 25, 1970
7 (P.L.707, No.230), known as the Pennsylvania Consolidated
8 Statutes, added July 1, 1978 (No.116), is amended to read:
9 § 513. Public letting of contracts.
10 [Whenever the commission deems that the public interest so
11 requires, it may direct, by regulation or order, that any] Every
12 public utility shall award contracts or agreements for the
13 construction, improvement, or extension, of its plant or system
14 to the lowest responsible bidder, after a public offering has
15 been made, after advertisement and notice. Any such public
16 utility may participate as a bidder in any such public offering.
17 The commission may prescribe regulations relative to such
18 advertisement, notice, and public letting.
19 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days and shall
1 apply to all contracts and agreements awarded thereafter.
