                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
     2     act relating to the public school system, including certain
     3     provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
     4     schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
     5     laws relating thereto," providing for quarterly payments to
     6     school districts.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  Section 2517, act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30,
    10  No.14), known as the "Public School Code of 1949," amended June
    11  26, 1974 (P.L.370, No.125), is amended to read:
    12     Section 2517.  [Tertiary] Payments.--The amount apportioned
    13  and allotted to each school district shall be divided into
    14  [three] four payments and the Secretary of Education shall draw
    15  his requisition [three] four times annually upon the State
    16  Treasurer in favor of each district for the amount to which it
    17  is entitled. The first [two] three payments shall be estimates
    18  based on but not to exceed [thirty percent (30%)] twenty-five
    19  percent (25%) each of the total amount apportioned and allocated
    20  to the school district during the previous school year for the

     1  same purposes. The final payment shall be the balance of the
     2  apportionment due for the applicable school year. Payment
     3  thereof shall be made to all school districts on the first day
     4  of [october, February and June, except any school district whose
     5  fiscal year and calendar year are identical at the effective
     6  date of this amendatory act shall continue to receive payments
     7  as heretofor] August, November, February and May.
     8     This section shall apply to payments which a school district
     9  is entitled under any provision of sections 2502, 2592, 2502.3
    10  or 2502.4.
    11     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days and shall
    12  apply to payments made for the school year 1979-1980 and
    13  thereafter.
