HOUSE RESOLUTION

        REFERRED TO FEDERAL-STATE RELATIONS, NOVEMBER 16, 1977

                      In the House of Representatives, November 15, 1977

     1     WHEREAS, There have been many pronouncements encouraging the
     2  use of mass transportation in these energy critical times; and
     3     WHEREAS, There has been much criticism as to the safety and
     4  efficiency of the Amtrak operation; and
     5     WHEREAS, Amtrak has recently announced its intention to
     6  abolish the schedule of 32 trains in the northeast corridor
     7  which is contrary to the intent in the formation of Amtrak;
     8  therefore be it
     9     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
    10  Commonwealth of Pennsylvania memorializes the Congress of the
    11  United States to investigate the entire Amtrak system and make a
    12  swift determination of the above mentioned allegations in
    13  particular; and be it further
    14     RESOLVED, That if the above allegations are proved to be true
    15  and accurate, that the United States Congress take immediate
    16  action to eradicate them; and be it further
    17     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be forwarded to each
    18  member of the Congress from Pennsylvania.
