HOUSE RESOLUTION

                           In the House of Representatives, May 24, 1977

     1     WHEREAS, The Congress of the United States has declared a
     2  National policy to restore and maintain the chemical, physical
     3  and biological integrity of the Nation's waters; and
     4     WHEREAS, It is the National policy that Federal financial
     5  assistance be provided to construct publicly-owned waste
     6  treatment works to assure adequate control of sources of
     7  pollutants; and
     8     WHEREAS, Costs of construction of treatment facilities,
     9  mandated by the National policy, are constantly escalating,
    10  creating a burden to local municipalities and taxpayers;
    11  therefore be it
    12     RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly
    13  of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania memorialize the Congress of
    14  the United States to amend Public Law 92-500 by increasing the
    15  annual Federal share from 75% to 85% of the cost of
    16  construction, paid to municipalities under the act; and be it
    17  further

     1     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
     2  the presiding officer of each House of Congress of the United
     3  States and to each Senator and Representative from Pennsylvania
     4  in the Congress of the United States.
