AN ACT 1 Amending the act of August 19, 1953 (P.L.1100, No.296), entitled 2 "An act to regulate the compensation of all members of any 3 police force employed by a municipality or township," further 4 providing for the compensation of certain police officers. 5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 6 hereby enacts as follows: 7 Section 1. Section 1, act of August 19, 1953 (P.L.1100, 8 No.296), entitled "An act to regulate the compensation of all 9 members of any police force employed by a municipality or 10 township," is amended to read: 11 Section 1. (a) The compensation of all members of any 12 police force employed by a municipality or township shall 13 hereafter be such an amount as shall be fixed by law, but under 14 no circumstances shall such compensation be determined by or 15 include any fines, rebate of fines or fees except as provided in 16 subsection (b). 17 (b) Nothing contained in this or any other act shall forbid 18 a municipality or township from paying a police officer a fixed 19 amount or hourly compensation for appearances at hearings, pre-
1 trial interviews or appearances in court during off duty hours. 2 Furthermore, such police officers shall continue to be entitled 3 to collect witness fees and mileage fees as currently provided 4 by law. 5 Section 2. All acts or parts of acts inconsistent herewith 6 are hereby repealed to the extent of any inconsistency. 7 Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days. C16L49CVV/19780H2421B3114 - 2 -
