AN ACT 1 Amending the act of July 15, 1976 (P.L.1014, No.204), entitled 2 "An act implementing the provisions of Article V of the 3 Constitution of Pennsylvania relating to district justices; 4 establishing magisterial districts; setting salaries and 5 expenses; providing for certain education requirements; 6 fixing jurisdiction; creating an administrator for district 7 justices and imposing powers and duties on such 8 administrator; requiring certain liability insurance; and 9 making repeals," authorizing additional compensation for 10 certain district justices and making an appropriation. 11 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 12 hereby enacts as follows: 13 Section 1. The act of July 15, 1976 (P.L.1014, No.204), 14 known as the "Magisterial District Reform Act," is amended by 15 adding a section to read: 16 Section 206.1. Temporary Assignment.--(a) Additional 17 compensation.--Any active or retired district justice who, due 18 to the absence of a district justice is temporarily assigned to 19 sit in the district of the absent district justice or otherwise 20 to perform the work of the absent district justice, shall, in 21 addition to tbe expenses allowed under section 206(b), he paid
1 additional compensation for each day of such temporary 2 assignment. 3 (b) Rate of compensation.--Such additional compensation 4 shall be a per diem salary which shall be computed by pro-rating 5 the annual salary of the absent district justice on a daily 6 basis. Such additional compensation shall be paid by the 7 Commonwealth. 8 Section 2. The sum of $50,000, or as much thereof as may be 9 necessary, is hereby appropriated to the Office of District 10 Justice Administrator of the Supreme Court to carry out the 11 provisions of this act for the period July 1, 1976 to June 30, 12 1978. 13 Section 3.
