AN ACT
1 Amending the act of December 6, 1972 (P.L.1464, No.333),
2 entitled "An act relating to the care, guidance, control,
3 trial, placement and commitment of delinquent and deprived
4 children," redefining the term "child."
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. Clause (1) of section 2, act of December 6, 1972
8 (P.L.1464, No.333), known as the "Juvenile Act," amended August
9 31, 1977 (No.41), is amended to read:
10 Section 2. Definitions.--As used in this act:
11 (1) "Child" means an individual who is: (i) under the age of
12 [eighteen] sixteen years; or (ii) under the age of twenty-one
13 years who committed an act of delinquency before reaching the
14 age of [eighteen] sixteen years; or who was adjudicated
15 dependent before reaching the age of eighteen years and who,
16 while engaged in a course of instruction or treatment, requests
17 the court to retain jurisdiction until the course has been
18 completed, but in no event shall a child remain in a course of
19 instruction or treatment past the age of twenty-one years.
