AN ACT 1 Amending the act of June 24, 1931 (P.L.1206, No.331), entitled 2 "An act concerning townships of the first class; amending, 3 revising, consolidating, and changing the law relating 4 thereto," authorizing townships to enter into contracts with 5 the Commonwealth for police protection. 6 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 7 hereby enacts as follows: 8 Section 1. Clause LIV of section 1502, act of June 24, 1931 9 (P.L.1206, No.331), known as "The First Class Township Code," 10 reenacted and amended May 27, 1949 (P.L.1955, No.569), is 11 amended to read: 12 Section 1502. The corporate power of a township of the first 13 class shall be vested in the board of township commissioners. 14 The board shall have power-- 15 * * * 16 LIV. Joint Contracts for Police and Fire Protection. To 17 enter into contracts with the proper authorities of the 18 Commonwealth or of near or adjacent cities, boroughs and 19 townships either for mutual aid or assistance in police and fire
1 protection, or for the furnishing to or receiving from the 2 Commonwealth or from such cities, boroughs or townships aid and 3 assistance in police and fire protection, and to make 4 appropriations therefor: Provided, That in connection with such 5 contracts it shall not be necessary to receive bids or require 6 bonds as required for other contracts under existing law. Any 7 police protection furnished by agreement with the Commonwealth 8 shall be in addition to any existing, full-time police 9 protection provided by the township. 10 * * * 11 Section 2.
