AN ACT 1 Amending the act of August 31, 1955 (P.L.531, No.131), entitled 2 "An act permitting and regulating wrestling and boxing 3 contests and exhibitions; requiring licenses and permits; 4 conferring powers and imposing duties upon the State Athletic 5 Commission; providing for the granting, suspension, and 6 revocation of licenses and permits issued by the Commission; 7 preserving the rights of existing licensees and permittees; 8 prescribing penalties, fines, forfeitures and misdemeanors; 9 requiring bonds and insurance; creating a Medical Advisory 10 Board; providing for rules and regulations; and making 11 appropriations," further defining "promoter" to include 12 certain persons holding certain telecasts. 13 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 14 hereby enacts as follows: 15 Section 1. The term "promoter" in section 102, act of August 16 31, 1955 (P.L.531, No.131), known as the "Pennsylvania Athletic 17 Code," amended May 24, 1956 (P.L.1693, No.574), is amended to 18 read: 19 Section 102. Definitions; Construction.--The following terms 20 shall be construed when used in this act to have the following 21 meanings, except in those instances where the context clearly 22 indicates otherwise: 23 * * *
1 "Promoter" shall mean any person, and in the case of a 2 corporate promoter shall include any officer, director, employe 3 or stockholder thereof, who produces, arranges or stages any 4 professional boxing or wrestling contest or exhibition, and 5 shall include every club, corporation or association holding, 6 showing or exhibiting a simultaneous telecast of any live 7 current or spontaneous boxing, sparring or wrestling match, 8 exhibition or performance for which an admission fee is charged 9 on a closed circuit telecast or subscription television viewed 10 within this State, whether originating in this State or another 11 state. 12 * * * 13 Section 2.
