AN ACT
1 Providing for the observance of the second Saturday of May of
2 each year as Fireman's Day.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. In recognition of and in appreciation for the
6 services rendered and duty performed of each and every fireman
7 in the Commonwealth who constantly risk life and limb in the
8 performance of the hazardous duty of protecting the life and
9 property of the people of Pennsylvania and in special
10 remembrance of those firemen who lost their lives in the
11 performance of their duties, the second Saturday of May of each
12 year is set aside to honor the firemen of Pennsylvania and is
13 hereby designated to be "Fireman's Day."
14 The Governor is authorized and requested to issue a
15 proclamation each year calling upon the people of the
16 Commonwealth to remember the contributions and sacrifices of the
17 firemen of Pennsylvania for the citizens of the Commonwealth,
18 and to observe that day with appropriate honors and ceremonies.
1 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
