                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of April 29, 1959 (P.L.58, No.32), entitled "An
     2     act consolidating and revising the Vehicle Code, the Tractor
     3     Code, the Motor Vehicle Financial Responsibility Act and
     4     other acts relating to the ownership, possession and use of
     5     vehicles and tractors," providing an additional time period
     6     when an uninspected vehicle may be operated.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  Subsection (h) of section 834, act of April 29,
    10  1959 (P.L.58, No.32), known as "The Vehicle Code," amended June
    11  23, 1965 (P.L.142, No.97), is amended to read:
    12     Section 834.  Official Inspections.--

    14     (h)  It shall be unlawful to operate any motor vehicle,
    15  motorcycle, trailer or semi-trailer on a highway (1) during an
    16  inspection period, unless the motor vehicle, motorcycle, trailer
    17  or semi-trailer has been inspected during the present or last
    18  preceding inspection period, and (2) after the close of any
    19  inspection period, unless it has been inspected during the last
    20  preceding inspection period, and (3) a certificate for the


     1  proper period furnished and displayed: Provided, That this
     2  subsection shall not apply to any vehicle while it is being
     3  towed to an official inspection station if the towing vehicle
     4  displays a certificate of inspection for the proper period, nor
     5  to any motor vehicle being operated by a dealer or an agent of a
     6  dealer from the point of purchase of such motor vehicle, whether
     7  within or without the Commonwealth, to such dealer's place of
     8  business during the forty-eight (48) hour period immediately
     9  following the purchase of such vehicle, or if purchased without
    10  the Commonwealth, during the forty-eight (48) hour period
    11  immediately following entry into the Commonwealth, nor to any
    12  motor vehicle while being operated by an owner or employe of an
    13  official inspection station in transit to such official
    14  inspection station for the purpose of inspection nor to any
    15  motor vehicle being operated by an owner or an agent of the
    16  owner following the replacement of a motor vehicle windshield
    17  for a period of seven (7) days from the date of replacement to
    18  be determined by a receipt issued by the party replacing the
    19  windshield.
