HOUSE RESOLUTION

No. 299 Session of 1976


        INTRODUCED BY BRADLEY AND WAGNER, SEPTEMBER 27, 1976

        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, SEPTEMBER 27, 1976

                     In the House of Representatives, September 27, 1976

     1     WHEREAS, The county of Northumberland is one of the oldest
     2  counties in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and
     3     WHEREAS, Many historic events took place within the
     4  boundaries of this fair county including the first session of
     5  the Middle District of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania which
     6  took place on the first Monday of July, 1807, and each year
     7  thereafter one session of the Supreme Court was held until 1834
     8  when the site of the Middle District was changed to Harrisburg;
     9  now therefore be it
    10     RESOLVED (the Senate concurring) That, the General Assembly
    11  urge the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, to hold a session in the
    12  Northumberland County Court House in Sunbury on the first Monday
    13  in July, 1977, to commemorate the 170th anniversary of the
    14  Supreme Court's first session in Sunbury in furtherance of the
    15  desire of the legislature to take the courts to the people; and
    16  be it further
    17     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be delivered to the
    18  Chief Justice and all the Associate Justices of the Supreme

     1  Court of Pennsylvania.
