PRINTER'S NO. 2628

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF PENNSYLVANIA

HOUSE RESOLUTION

No. 192 Session of 1975

INTRODUCED BY PRATT, GREEN, MILANOVICH, STAPLETON, MILLIRON,
REED, McLANE, GEORGE, BRADLEY, LAUGHLIN AND GIAMMARCO,
           DECEMBER 10, 1975

REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, DECEMBER 16, 1975

In the House of Representatives, December 10, 1975

1 Since the Interstate Highway System is substantially
2 complete, the tax funds collected for construction of the system
3 will be in excess of the amounts actually required; and
4 Every state faces higher maintenance costs for their highway
     5 systems; therefore be it
6 RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly
7 of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania memorialize the Congress of
8 the United States to continue the Highway Trust Fund Act, rather
9 than repeal it, and amend the act so that one-half of the tax on
10 gasoline and diesel fuel is shared by the states on a formula
11 based on the number of motor vehicles registered in the state
12 and the number of miles of state maintained highways, including
13 interstate highways, for the general maintenance of state
14 highways; and be it further
15 RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
16 the presiding officers of each House of the Congress of the
17 United States and to each Senator and Representative from

1 Pennsylvania in the Congress of the United States.
