                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of July 28, 1953 (P.L.723, No.230), entitled,
     2     as amended, "An act relating to counties of the second class
     3     and second class A; amending, revising, consolidating and
     4     changing the laws relating thereto," authorizing the jury
     5     commissioners to join their State association, providing for
     6     attendance at the annual meeting and authorizing payments by
     7     the county pertaining thereto.

     8     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     9  hereby enacts as follows:
    10     Section 1.  Section 432, act of July 28, 1953 (P.L.723,
    11  No.230), known as the "Second Class County Code," is amended by
    12  adding a clause to read:
    13     Section 432.  State Associations Authorized.--County officers
    14  of the county may join with county officers of other counties of
    15  the Commonwealth and organize a State association, as follows:
    16     * * *
    17     (11)  The jury commissioners.
    18     Section 2.  Section 434 and subsection (b) of section 436 of
    19  the act, amended June 30, 1969 (P.L.101, No.38), are amended to


     1  read:
     2     Section 434.  Deputies and Solicitors May Attend Annual
     3  Meetings.--The deputy controller, the deputy sheriff, the deputy
     4  register of wills, the deputy treasurer, the deputy
     5  prothonotary, the deputy clerk of courts, the deputy recorder of
     6  deeds, the deputy clerk of orphans' court, the first assistant
     7  district attorney, the chief clerk of the jury commission and
     8  the chief deputy coroner, with the approval of his principal and
     9  the solicitor for each office may attend the annual meetings of
    10  his respective associations, either together with the
    11  controller, sheriff, register of wills, prothonotary, clerk of
    12  courts, recorder of deeds, district attorney, coroner, jury
    13  commissioners or treasurer, as the case may be, or in his place.
    14     Section 436.  Other Meeting Expenses Paid by County.--* * *
    15     (b)  In the case of the county controllers, the sheriffs, the
    16  register of wills, the county commissioners, county solicitor
    17  and chief clerk, the prothonotaries and clerks of courts of
    18  [quarter sessions] common pleas, the county treasurers, the
    19  recorders of deeds and the directors of veterans' affairs, and
    20  the jury commissioners the portion of the annual expenses
    21  charged to each county shall not exceed one hundred dollars
    22  ($100); and in the case of the probation officers, an annual
    23  membership subscription not exceeding six dollars and twenty-
    24  five cents ($6.25) per member shall be paid by the county, and
    25  shall be in lieu of the expenses hereinbefore in this section
    26  provided for other county officers.
    27     Section 3.  This act shall take effect immediately.
