                                     AN ACT

     1  Regulating the name under which credit cards can be issued.

     2     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     3  hereby enacts as follows:
     4     Section 1.  Upon determination by an issuer of a credit card
     5  using recognized commercial practices to issue a card, the
     6  credit card shall be issued bearing (i) the name assigned to a
     7  woman at birth, (ii) in the case of a married woman, the surname
     8  of her husband, if she so elects, (iii) the name appearing in a
     9  court order in that case of a person whose name has been
    10  changed, (iv) and, in the case of an individual who uses a name
    11  other than that which would be determined by one of the above
    12  methods, the name by which such woman is and has been known as
    13  demonstrated by reasonable evidence. Evidence of the name used
    14  by a woman may include but is not limited to tax, social
    15  security, selective service and voter registration records.
    16     Section 2.  If in the regular course of business of the


     1  issuer of credit cards duplicate cards are distributed for
     2  authorized use, a request by the applicant may be made to have
     3  the duplicate card bear (i) the name assigned to a woman at
     4  birth, (ii) in the case of a married woman, the surname of her
     5  husband, if she so elects, (iii) the name appearing in a court
     6  order in that case of a woman whose name has been changed, (iv)
     7  and in the case of an individual who uses a name other than that
     8  which would be determined by one of the above methods, the name
     9  by which such woman is and has been known as demonstrated by
    10  reasonable evidence. While not intended to be inclusive, such
    11  evidence may include tax, social security, selective service and
    12  voter registration records. The account number and address shall
    13  remain the same as those of the holder of the original credit
    14  card.
    15     Section 3.  This act shall take effect on October 28, 1975.
