                                     AN ACT

     1  Authorizing discharge and parole supervision of terminally ill
     2     prisoner.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5     Section 1.  Whenever any prisoner under sentence in any penal
     6  institution irrespective of how much of his sentence has been
     7  served is found to be terminally ill, and such fact is certified
     8  to the sentencing court and the Deputy Director of the Bureau of
     9  Corrections by the affidavit of two physicians, the Deputy
    10  Director of the Bureau of Corrections, without objection of the
    11  sentencing court, may discharge the person from the jurisdiction
    12  of the Bureau of Corrections and place such person under parole
    13  supervision of the Board of Probation and Parole when the
    14  maximum sentence was more than two years or such board or the
    15  sentencing court, when the maximum sentence was less than two
    16  years.
    17     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
