                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of April 29, 1959 (P.L.58, No.32), entitled "An
     2     act consolidating and revising the Vehicle Code, the Tractor
     3     Code, the Motor Vehicle Financial Responsibility Act and
     4     other acts relating to the ownership, possession and use of
     5     vehicles and tractors," increasing the mileage for the use of
     6     farm vehicles exempt from registration.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  Subsection (f) of section 401, act of April 29,
    10  1959 (P.L.58, No.32), known as "The Vehicle Code," amended
    11  October 13, 1965 (P.L.581, No.301), is amended to read:
    12     Section 401.  Registration of Motor Vehicles, Tractors,
    13  Trailers and Semi-Trailers Required; Special Permits for
    14  Nonresidents.--

    16     (f)  Motor vehicles, tractors, trailers and semi-trailers
    17  determined by the department to be used exclusively by any
    18  person, or his agents and employes, upon the farm or farms he
    19  owns or operates, or upon highways connecting by the most direct
    20  route any farms or portions of farms, all of which are situated


     1  in any one county or county next adjoining thereto (unless the
     2  same is a farm tractor in which event the limitation of county
     3  lines shall not be applicable) and under the single ownership or
     4  operation of such person, shall be exempt from registration. A
     5  certificate of exemption shall be required in the case of motor
     6  vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers: Provided, That vehicles
     7  exempt from registration under this act, which use the highways
     8  as above limited, may be operated upon highways connecting by
     9  the nearest route such farm or farms and the nearest official
    10  inspection station for purposes of inspection, as provided for
    11  in this act. Vehicles exempt from registration may also be
    12  operated on the highways between such farm or farms and any
    13  garage for the purpose of having the same repaired, or between
    14  such farm or farms and another farm for the purpose of
    15  exchanging farm work without remuneration: Provided, That the
    16  said garage or other farm is within [eight] twenty miles of the
    17  farm or farms which the owner or operator of the vehicle owns or
    18  operates. Vehicles exempt from registration may also be operated
    19  on the highways between such farm or farms and any place or
    20  places for the buying or selling of farm products located within
    21  [eight] twenty miles of the farm or farms which the owner or
    22  operator of the vehicle owns or operates.
