AN ACT
1 Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, redefining the definition of firearm.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Section 6102 of Title 18, act of November 25,
6 1970 (P.L.707, No.230), known as the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7 Statutes, added December 6, 1972 (P.L.1482, No.334), is amended
8 to read:
9 § 6102. Definitions.
10 Subject to additional definitions contained in subsequent
11 provisions of this subchapter which are applicable to specific
12 provisions of this subchapter, the following words and phrases,
13 when used in this subchapter shall have, unless the context
14 clearly indicates otherwise, the meanings given to them in this
15 section:
16 "Firearm." Any pistol or revolver with a barrel less than 12
17 inches, any shotgun with a barrel less than [24] 18 inches, or
18 any rifle with a barrel less than [15] 16 inches.
1 "Crime of violence." Any of the following crimes, or an
2 attempt to commit any of the same, namely: murder, rape,
3 aggravated assault, robbery, burglary, entering a building with
4 intent to commit a crime therein, and kidnapping.
5 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
