AN ACT 1 Amending the act of June 3, 1937 (P.L.1333, No.320), entitled 2 "An act concerning elections, including general, municipal, 3 special and primary elections, the nomination of candidates, 4 primary and election expenses and election contests; creating 5 and defining membership of county boards of elections; 6 imposing duties upon the Secretary of the Commonwealth, 7 courts, county boards of elections, county commissioners; 8 imposing penalties for violation of the act, and codifying, 9 revising and consolidating the laws relating thereto; and 10 repealing certain acts and parts of acts relating to 11 elections," further providing for form of official primary 12 ballot labels on voting machines and placement of nominees. 13 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 14 hereby enacts as follows: 15 Section 1. Subsection (i) of section 1110, act of June 3, 16 1937 (P.L.1333, No.320), known as the "Pennsylvania Election 17 Code," is amended to read: 18 Section 1110. Form of Ballot Labels on Voting Machines.-- 19 * * * 20 (i) In primary elections, the ballot labels, containing the 21 names of candidates seeking nomination by a political party, 22 shall be segregated on the face of the machine in adjacent rows 23 or columns by parties [, the priority of such political parties
1 on the ballot labels to be determined in the same manner as 2 provided for determining priority on paper ballots in section 3 1003 (f) herein]. The names of all candidates for an office 4 shall be placed on the same line or row on the voting machine. 5 If there are more candidates than positions available on that 6 line or row then the order of such rows or columns shall be 7 rotated by districts in regular serial sequence, so that the 8 names of the candidates seeking nomination by a political party 9 shall appear in so far as may be reasonably possible, 10 substantially an equal number of times in each of the rows or 11 columns appearing on the voting machines of the voting district 12 under the titles of the offices for which they seek nomination. 13 * * * 14 Section 2.
