                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
     2     act relating to the public school system, including certain
     3     provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
     4     schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
     5     laws relating thereto," providing for reimbursement for
     6     school districts that offer vocational-technical courses in
     7     their own school district in existing buildings.

     8     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     9  hereby enacts as follows:
    10     Section 1.  Section 2504, act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30,
    11  No.14), known as "The Public School Code of 1949," amended
    12  January 14, 1970 (1969 P.L.468, No.192), is amended to read:
    13     Section 2504.  Payments of Account of Vocational
    14  Curriculums.--(a) Every school district regardless of
    15  classification, and every intermediate unit with reference to
    16  vocational departments of high schools or vocational schools,
    17  shall be paid by the Commonwealth for every school year, the sum
    18  of thirty-five dollars ($35) in vocational agriculture and
    19  vocational industrial education; twenty dollars ($20) in
    20  vocational home economics education; and fifty dollars ($50) in


     1  vocational distributive education per pupil in average daily
     2  membership in vocational curriculums, approved by the
     3  [Superintendent of Public Instruction] Secretary of Education.
     4     (b)  School districts who are sponsors of an established area
     5  vocational-technical school may offer vocational-technical
     6  courses in their own school district in existing school
     7  buildings, provided the offered courses fulfill the standards of
     8  the Department of Education for these courses. In such event all
     9  State subsidies provided for vocational-technical courses in
    10  area vocational-technical schools shall be paid to local school
    11  districts in the same amount as though the courses were being
    12  given in the area vocational-technical school.
    13     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1975.
