AN ACT
1 Requiring the installation of ramps at crosswalks under certain
2 conditions.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. The Department of Transportation and political
6 subdivision shall install ramps, WHERE FEASIBLE, at crosswalks, <--
7 in both business and residential areas, when making new
8 installations of sidewalks and curbs or gutters, or improving or
9 replacing existing sidewalks and curbs or gutters, so as to make
10 the transition from street to sidewalk easily negotiable for
11 handicapped persons in wheelchairs and for other persons who may
12 have difficulty in making the required step up or down from curb
13 level to street level.
14 Section 2. All such ramps shall be constructed or installed
15 in accordance with design specifications therefor prepared by
16 the Department of Transportation. The Department of
17 Transportation shall make available to such political
1 subdivisions design standards for such ramps.
