AN ACT 1 Implementing the provisions of section 6 of Article I of the 2 Constitution of Pennsylvania by providing that a verdict may 3 be rendered by five-sixths of the jury in a civil case. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. In any civil case a verdict rendered by at least 7 five-sixths of the jury shall be the verdict of the jury and 8 shall have the same effect as a unanimous verdict of the jury. 9 Section 2. This act shall take effect in thirty days and 10 shall apply to the verdict of any jury which is sworn on or 11 after the effective date of this act to try any issue in any 12 civil action or proceeding pending on the effective date of this 13 act or brought after the effective date of this act on any cause 14 of action heretofore or hereafter arising.
