                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Memorializing the President and Congress of the United States
     2     and the Department of Defense to oppose any increases in the
     3     cost of enrollment in health care programs for members of the
     4     United States military.

     5     WHEREAS, A recent proposal by the Department of Defense,
     6  endorsed by the Joint Chiefs, called for increasing the
     7  enrollment cost in United States military health care programs
     8  for service members known as TRICARE; and
     9     WHEREAS, All branches of the armed forces have valiantly
    10  sacrificed for our nation domestically and overseas, including
    11  in Iraq and Afghanistan; and
    12     WHEREAS, The Federal Government has encountered difficulty in
    13  recruiting and retaining personnel for military duty on account
    14  of compensation and service commitment concerns; and
    15     WHEREAS, The Department of Defense must limit the financial
    16  burden on members of the military community; therefore be it

     1     RESOLVED, That the Senate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     2  memorialize the President and Congress of the United States and
     3  the Department of Defense to oppose any increases in the cost of
     4  enrollment in health care programs for members of the United
     5  States military; and be it further
     6     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
     7  the President of the United States, the Secretary of Defense,
     8  the presiding officers of each house of Congress and to each
     9  member of Congress from Pennsylvania.
