AN ACT
1 Amending Title 51 (Military Affairs) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, providing for a Merchant Marine
3 Service Medal.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Title 51 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
8 § 3701.1. Merchant Marine Service Medal.
9 The department shall select and procure a service medal for
10 members of the United States Merchant Marine who served during
11 World War II. The service medal shall be provided at cost to
12 persons who were residents of this Commonwealth at the time of
13 entry into the merchant marine and who make a request to the
14 department for the medal. The department shall prescribe the
15 detailed specifications and design for the medal.
16 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
