AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, further providing for qualifications for Class 4
3 (school bus driver) licenses.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Section 1509(a) of Title 75, act of November 25,
7 1970 (P.L.707, No.230), known as the Pennsylvania Consolidated
8 Statutes, is amended to read:
9 § 1509. Qualifications for Class 4 license.
10 (a) School bus driver requirements.--
11 (1) No person shall be issued a Class 4 license unless
12 the person:
13 [(1) has successfully completed a course of instruction
14 as provided in subsection (c);]
15 [(2)] (i) has satisfactorily passed an annual physical
16 examination to be given by the physician for the school
17 district by which the person is employed; and
18 [(3)] (ii) is 18 years of age or older.
1 (2) In addition to the requirements of paragraph (1), a
2 person issued a Class 4 license shall furnish evidence
3 satisfactory to the department that the licensee has
4 successfully completed a course of instruction as provided in
5 subsection (c) either prior to the issuance of the license or
6 within 120 days of such issuance. The department shall revoke
7 the license of any person issued a Class 4 license who does
8 not present evidence of successful completion of the course
9 within the 120-day period and no new Class 4 license shall be
10 issued or reissued to such person until the course of
11 instruction provided in subsection (c) has been successfully
12 completed.
