AN ACT
1 Repealing section 4, act of November 16, 1959 (P.L.1509,
2 No.528), entitled "An act authorizing the Pennsylvania
3 Department of Property and Supplies, acting for the
4 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, to acquire by gift from the
5 Borough of Northumberland that certain tract of land in
6 Northumberland Borough, County of Northumberland, upon which
7 is located the home of Joseph Priestley and which is now the
8 property of the Borough of Northumberland; providing for the
9 control, management, supervision, improvement and maintenance
10 thereof by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission;
11 authorizing the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission
12 to make and enforce rules and regulations for the
13 preservation, maintenance and visitation thereof; authorizing
14 the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission to accept
15 in trust from the American Chemical Society and other
16 interested societies or individuals such moneys as they may
17 see fit to present to the Commonwealth to assist in the
18 maintenance and development of this property as a permanent
19 memorial; authorizing the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum
20 Commission to accept as gifts or loans such books,
21 manuscripts, pamphlets, relics and furniture as interested
22 societies or individuals may provide for enhancing the
23 interests of this property as a museum of science; creating
24 an advisory board to assist in such functions and making an
25 appropriation," relating to the advisory board.
26 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
27 hereby enacts as follows:
28 Section 1. Section 4, act of November 16, 1959 (P.L.1509,
29 No.528), entitled "An act authorizing the Pennsylvania
1 Department of Property and Supplies, acting for the Commonwealth
2 of Pennsylvania, to acquire by gift from the Borough of
3 Northumberland that certain tract of land in Northumberland
4 Borough, County of Northumberland, upon which is located the
5 home of Joseph Priestley and which is now the property of the
6 Borough of Northumberland; providing for the control,
7 management, supervision, improvement and maintenance thereof by
8 the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission; authorizing
9 the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission to make and
10 enforce rules and regulations for the preservation, maintenance
11 and visitation thereof; authorizing the Pennsylvania Historical
12 and Museum Commission to accept in trust from the American

23 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 30 days.
