REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON CONSERVATION, FEBRUARY 1, 1988
AN ACT 1 Providing for community programs for the collection and disposal 2 of small quantities of hazardous waste. 3 The General Assembly finds that many hazardous materials are 4 in the possession of and commonly used by homeowners, farmers, 5 educational institutions and small businesses and are being 6 disposed of in a manner which can threaten human health and 7 safety or the environment because of the lack of public 8 awareness of the hazards associated with such materials and 9 because of the lack of adequate means, methods and facilities 10 for proper disposal. The purpose of this act is to encourage 11 municipalities, private citizens and private organizations to 12 develop, implement or continue existing community programs for 13 the collection and disposal of community hazardous waste, to 14 encourage community participation in hazardous waste collection 15 activities and to educate the public regarding the hazardous 16 nature of many commonly used materials. 17 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
