                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, increasing the criminal classification
     3     for soliciting or patronizing a prostitute.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Subsection (e) of section 5902, act of November
     7  25, 1970 (P.L.707, No.230), known as the Pennsylvania
     8  Consolidated Statutes, is amended to read:
     9  § 5902.  Prostitution and related offenses.

    11     (e)  Patronizing prostitutes.--A person commits a [summary
    12  offense] misdemeanor of the third degree if he hires or attempts
    13  to hire a prostitute to engage in sexual activity with him, or
    14  if he enters or remains in a house of prostitution for the
    15  purpose of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity.

    17     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
