AN ACT

 

1Amending the act of June 3, 1937 (P.L.1333, No.320), entitled
2"An act concerning elections, including general, municipal,
3special and primary elections, the nomination of candidates,
4primary and election expenses and election contests; creating
5and defining membership of county boards of elections;
6imposing duties upon the Secretary of the Commonwealth,
7courts, county boards of elections, county commissioners;
8imposing penalties for violation of the act, and codifying,
9revising and consolidating the laws relating thereto; and
10repealing certain acts and parts of acts relating to
11elections," in nomination of candidates, further providing
12for number of signers required for nomination petitions of
13candidates at primaries.

14The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
15hereby enacts as follows:

16Section 1. Section 912.1 of the act of June 3, 1937
17(P.L.1333, No.320), known as the Pennsylvania Election Code,
18amended February 13, 1989 (P.L.1, No.1), is amended to read:

19Section 912.1. Number of Signers Required for Nomination
20Petitions of Candidates at Primaries.--Candidates for nomination
21of offices as listed below shall present a nominating petition
22containing at least as many valid signatures of registered and
23enrolled members of the proper party as listed below:

1(1) President of the United States: Two thousand.

2(2) United States Senate: Two thousand.

3(3) Governor: Two thousand including at least one hundred
4from each of at least ten counties.

5(4) Lieutenant Governor: One thousand including at least one
6hundred from each of at least five counties.

7(5) Treasurer: One thousand including at least one hundred
8from each of at least five counties.

9(6) Auditor General: One thousand including at least one
10hundred from each of at least five counties.

11(7) Attorney General: One thousand including at least one
12hundred from each of at least five counties.

13(8) Justice of the Supreme Court: One thousand including at
14least one hundred from each of at least five counties.

15(9) Judge of the Superior Court: One thousand including at
16least one hundred from each of at least five counties.

17(10) Judge of the Commonwealth Court: One thousand including
18at least one hundred from each of at least five counties.

19(11) For any other office to be filled by the vote of the
20electors of the State at large or for any other party office to
21be elected by the electors of the State at large: One thousand
22including at least one hundred from each of at least five
23counties.

24(12) Representative in Congress: One thousand.

25(13) Senator in the General Assembly: Five hundred.

26(14) Representative in the General Assembly: Three hundred.

27(15) Public or party offices to be filled by a vote of the
28electors in counties of the first class at large: One thousand.

29(16) Public or party offices to be filled by a vote of the
30electors in counties of the second class at large: Five hundred.

1(17) Public or party offices to be filled by a vote of the
2electors in cities of the first class at large: One thousand.

3(18) Public or party offices to be filled by a vote of the
4electors in counties of the second class A at large: Two hundred
5fifty.

6(19) Public or party offices to be filled by a vote of the
7electors in counties of the third class at large: Two hundred
8fifty.

9(20) Public or party offices to be filled by a vote of the
10electors in counties of the fourth class at large: Two hundred
11fifty.

12(21) Public or party offices to be filled by a vote of the
13electors in cities of the second class at large: Two hundred
14fifty.

15(22) Public or party offices to be filled by a vote of the
16electors in cities of the second class A at large: One hundred.

17(23) Public or party offices to be filled by a vote of the
18electors in cities of the third class at large: One hundred.

19(24) Public or party offices to be filled by a vote of the
20electors in counties of the fifth class at large: One hundred.

21(25) Public or party offices to be filled by a vote of the
22electors in counties of the sixth class at large: One hundred.

23(26) Public or party offices to be filled by a vote of the
24electors in counties of the seventh class at large: One hundred.

25(27) Public or party offices to be filled by a vote of the
26electors in counties of the eighth class at large: One hundred.

27(28) Office of judge of any court of record other than a
28Statewide court or a court in a county of the first or second
29class: Two hundred fifty.

30(29) District delegate or alternate district delegate to a

1National party convention: Two hundred fifty.

2(30) Member of State committee: One hundred.

3(31) Office of district council member in a city of the
4first class: Seven hundred fifty.

5(31.1) Office of district council member in a city of the
6second class: One hundred.

7(32) Office of district justice: One hundred.

8(33) Office of judge of election: Ten.

9(34) Inspector of elections: Five.

10(35) School director: Twenty-five.

11(36) All other public and party offices: Ten.

12Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
