| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Designating the interchange at Exit 48 of Interstate 79 in |
2 | Washington County as the Purple Heart Interchange. |
3 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
4 | hereby enacts as follows: |
5 | Section 1. The Purple Heart Interchange. |
6 | (a) Declaration of policy.-–The General Assembly finds and |
7 | declares as follows: |
8 | (1) The Purple Heart is awarded, in the name of the |
9 | President of the United States, to any member of the armed |
10 | forces who has been wounded or killed while serving, on or |
11 | after April 5, 1917, with the United States Armed Forces. |
12 | (2) In 2005, The United States Department of Veterans |
13 | Affairs established the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, |
14 | which is located in close proximity to Exit 48 (Southpointe) |
15 | of Interstate 79 in Washington County. |
16 | (b) Designation.--Exit 48 (Southpointe) of Interstate 79 in |

1 | Washington County, in both directions, is hereby designated as |
2 | the Purple Heart Interchange. |
3 | (c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall, in |
4 | appropriate locations, erect and maintain signs displaying the |
5 | name designated under subsection (b). |
6 | Section 2. Effective date. |
7 | This act shall take effect in 60 days. |
