AN ACT
1 Amending the act of April 9, 1929 (P.L.177, No.175), entitled
2 "An act providing for and reorganizing the conduct of the
3 executive and administrative work of the Commonwealth by the
4 Executive Department thereof and the administrative
5 departments, boards, commissions, and officers thereof,
6 including the boards of trustees of State Normal Schools, or
7 Teachers Colleges; abolishing, creating, reorganizing or
8 authorizing the reorganization of certain administrative
9 departments, boards, and commissions; defining the powers and
10 duties of the Governor and other executive and administrative
11 officers, and of the several administrative departments,
12 boards, commissions, and officers; fixing the salaries of the
13 Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and certain other executive
14 and administrative officers; providing for the appointment of
15 certain administrative officers, and of all deputies and
16 other assistants and employes in certain departments, boards,
17 and commissions; and prescribing the manner in which the
18 number and compensation of the deputies and all other
19 assistants and employes of certain departments, boards and
20 commissions shall be determined," establishing an office
21 under the direction of the Governor to assist business in
22 transactions with governmental agencies.
23 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
24 hereby enacts as follows:
25 Section 1. The act of April 9, 1929 (P.L.177, No.175), known
26 as "The Administrative Code of 1929," is amended by adding a
27 section to read:
28 Section 478. Joint Office for Business Services.--
1 (a) There is hereby established an administrative office 2 under the direction of the Governor to be known as the Joint 3 Office for Business Services for the purpose of providing 4 businesses which are newly formed, new to Pennsylvania or 5 expanding Pennsylvania operations with one office where all 6 forms, applications, and contracts from any and all departments 7 and agencies of State may be obtained and returned for 8 processing. 9 (b) This office shall act as an advocate for those 10 businesses which request its assistance in obtaining prompt and 11 reasonable action on any such application or requests for 12 approvals or other action made to State government, departments 13 and agencies. 14 (c) The Governor shall be advised in regard to the operation 15 of such office by an executive policy making board consisting of 16 the Secretaries of Commerce, Labor and Industry, Revenue, 17 Environmental Resources, Community Affairs, Transportation and 18 State or their designated representatives. 19 (d) The Governor shall select an executive director who 20 shall be empowered to staff and direct the operations of the 21 office. The salary of the executive director and staff shall be 22 fixed by the Executive Board. 23 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately. E16L54RZ/19790H1661B2013 - 2 -
