AN ACT
1 Making a supplemental appropriation to the Department of
2 Agriculture for food purchases for needy individuals.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. The sum of $1,000,000 is hereby appropriated to
6 the Department of Agriculture for the fiscal year July 1, 1999,
7 to June 30, 2000, for grants to counties for the purchase of
8 food to be provided to needy individuals in this Commonwealth,
9 to supplement the appropriation under section 208 of the act of
10 May 5, 1998 (P.L. , No.1A), known as the General Appropriation
11 Act of 1999. A county must submit a completed application for
12 funds or designate a regional food bank or county coordinating
13 agency to complete the application process. If a county chooses
14 not to participate in the program or to designate a regional
15 food bank or county coordinating agency to participate on its
16 behalf by December 31, 1999, then the county's allocation shall
1 be granted to the regional food bank or county coordinating
2 agency serving that county.
3 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
