                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 24 (Education) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, further providing for the power to confer degrees.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5     Section 1.  Section 6505 of Title 24 of the Pennsylvania
     6  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     7  § 6505.  Power to confer degrees.
     8     A [nonprofit] corporation for profit or a corporation not-
     9  for-profit as defined in Title 15 (relating to corporations and
    10  unincorporated associations) which receives a certificate of
    11  authority under this chapter authorizing the conferring of
    12  degrees may confer baccalaureate degrees in the arts, science,
    13  philosophy or literature, but only upon students who have
    14  completed a college or university course normally covering four
    15  years, or such other degrees at the associate, baccalaureate or
    16  advanced level as may be specified in the certificate of
    17  authority. The qualifications of admission to these four-year

     1  courses, or to advanced classes in these courses, shall be not
     2  less than four years of academic or high school preparation, or
     3  its equivalent, and shall be subject to the standards
     4  promulgated by the State board.
     5     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
