AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, further defining and providing for the title and
3 registration fees for certain urban mass transportation
4 systems and vehicles.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. The definition of "urban mass transportation
8 system" in section 102 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
9 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
10 § 102. Definitions.
11 Subject to additional definitions contained in subsequent
12 provisions of this title which are applicable to specific
13 provisions of this title, the following words and phrases when
14 used in this title shall have, unless the context clearly
15 indicates otherwise, the meanings given to them in this section:

17 "Urban mass transportation system." A person holding a
18 certificate of the Public Utility Commission or a municipality
1 authority, port authority or transportation authority
2 established under the laws of this Commonwealth that transports
3 persons on schedule over fixed routes and derives over 80% of
4 their [intrastate scheduled] revenue from scheduled operations
5 within the county in which they have their principal place of
6 business, or contiguous counties.

8 Section 2. Section 1901(b)(1) of Title 75 is amended to
9 read:
10 § 1901. Exemption of entities and vehicles from fees.

12 (b) Title and registration fees.--No fee shall be charged
13 for titling or registration of any of the following:
14 (1) Buses, other than school buses, registered by urban
15 mass transportation systems.

17 Section 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
